This fact is often overlooked by drivers

This fact is often overlooked by drivers and owners alike. Moreover, to create a handy solution, Weathertech upgrades its mats to bestow maximum interior vehicle protection.

Weathertech mats are made by Cannon, an original equipment provider to General Motors and other European car manufacturers. Said mats are made of up to 16 lbs. of pliable heavy-duty virgin rubber with deeply sculpted channels and an outer rim. The channels and rims are also designed to trap water, mud, road salt, sand, etc. Its ridged design, on the other hand, precludes the aforementioned annoyances to shift in the vehicle. Further, the design is also capable of trapping the dirt coming from the shoes.

Its rubber is designed so as not to crack, curl or harden when exposed to sub-zero weather. It meets FMVSS302, hence TUV approved. It is also manufactured in compliance with to ISO 9001 standards to ensure quality and protection. Weathertech mats come in three classic colors to complement the interior of various vehicles.

Place to be proud of

0 Comments | Tamworth Herald, The, Sep 2, 2010

WORK is now complete at Lichfield’s new serviced office complex at Trent Business Centre on Eastern Avenue.

The refurbishment, carried out by Swan Park Ltd, has created a vibrant working environment suited to small and expanding companies alike, offering a range of 17 furnished office rooms from just 96 sq ft up to 514 sq ft.

The ethos is to create a professional working environment where occupiers can be proud and confident to invite customers and suppliers.

A reception area with comfy seating, planters, Sky News and water cooler greet visitors to the centre.

The standard fit-out includes office furniture, IT cabling, shared use of kitchen and toilets and free use of fitted meeting rooms. Allocated on-site car parking is also included.

Occupiers are able to sign up on a brief licence document, and short-term occupation is available. The licence fees – starting from Pounds 400 per month plus VAT -are inclusive of all usual outgoings except the occupiers’ phone bills.

Andrew Buckman, of letting agents Kingston CPC, said: “We are seeing a number of smaller and new businesses looking for this type of commercial space despite the current economic conditions. “The ability to occupy good quality furnished offices, on a short-term basis to allow the business to grow at its own speed, and to have only one bill a month to pay, is a very attractive proposition”. I’m reminded of my days as

Friday, 3 September 2010

I’m reminded of my days as a lawyer where the mere thought of giving a client “imperfect” legal advice was inconceivable.

And you’d hardly want your doctor to be less than perfect when he’s performing surgery on you, right?

So how do you know when being less than perfect IS not only adequate but IDEAL?

Here’s my 4-step formula.

Ask yourself these questions when you embark on task or project:

1. Would anything less than perfect be acceptable by most people’s standards?

– If no, then aim for perfection.

— If yes, move on to Question 2.

2. Does getting it perfect improve the result in a substantial way?

– If yes, then get it perfect.

— If no, move on to Question 3.

3. Does getting it perfect improve the result in a small, but noticeable way?

– If yes, get it perfect.

— If no, move on to Question 4.

4. Is getting it perfect necessary to satisfy some internal need?

– If yes, and the matter is NEITHER time-sensitive nor “energy-sensitive” (energy-sensitive: the longer it drags on the less likely you are to finish it), then get it perfect.

– If no, then…

FORGET ABOUT GETTING IT PERFECT AND JUST GET IT DONE!

Now, this doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t improve something over time.

This article will show

This article will show you what a wholesale distributor is and how you can make money as a wholesale distributor.

A wholesale distributor is a person or business that delivers product to retailers or other wholesalers for resale. It might be an importer or manufacturer, a reseller or an inventor.

Wholesale Distribution has evolved from just delivering goods in your van or fleet of trucks from store to store. You can sell product in different ways and deliver them in many other ways. You could sell in person, by phone or the internet. You could deliver in person using your trucks or drop ship products by the case or by the truckload. There is even the addition of new type of stores like large Cash and Carry and superstores line Costco and Sam?s Club.

For example, the person selling to your local convenience store or local supermarket is for sure a wholesaler. They might sell soda, candy, sunglasses, cookies, milk, janitorial products, soap, and more. This company could be a small independent one man operation or a national wholesale distributor with a fleet of trucks.

A screw built into

Friday, 3 September 2010

A screw built into the frame can accomplish this. There are other very effective stops also available. Of course, you should be able to escape in the event of a fire.

* There are anti-lift devices available that can prevent an entire window or sliding door being lifted out of its frame. If you do not install them, thieves may make locks irrelevant by lifting the window or door.

* Your door should have a dead bolt, not just the lock in the knob. Get one installed, if you don’t have one already.

* Avoid listing your complete address in the phone book. List only your street name, at most. This will prevent someone doing reverse listings to find out your name and phone number using your address.

* It is tempting to leave notes for your kids or neighbors on mailboxes and doors. This is an open declaration that you are not home.

* Do not announce your absence from home through your answering machine. Incidentally, an answering machine can be useful for identifying suspicious patterns of missed calls.

* There are a number of excellent home security systems available.

Western Governors University Realizes 80% Savings With Active Endpoints Business Process Management System

Western Governors University Realizes 80% Savings With Active Endpoints Business Process Management System

Market Wire, August, 2010

Active Endpoints, Inc. , the leader in affordable, service oriented BPM that development teams love, today announced that Western Governors University has achieved an 80% cost savings by streamlining its student change management process using Active Endpoints ActiveVOS, the company’s business process management system (BPMS). The university achieved these results by utilizing ActiveVOS’s model-driven capabilities to build its new service-oriented business process application using the BPMN 2.0 and WS-BPEL 2.0 standards.

Western Governors University (WGU) is an online university that has grown from 3,000 to 19,000 students in the last five years. They were challenged by the inefficiency of their student change management process, such as frequently changing the elements of their degree programs and adding new options for them. For example, each time a degree program was changed or a student decided to change to a different program, the administrative office had to complete a series of manual processes to make the change. The entire process was taking up to 4 hours, was error prone and difficult to scale as new students enrolled.

The President of the university decided to improve the IT infrastructure in order to support their significant growth. Based on this goal, the IT department decided on the following high priority requirements:

Standards-based: They wanted to avoid “vendor lock-in” and its high costs.
Price: They wanted a reasonably priced standards-based BPM system that would allow it to experiment with a service-based architecture. Justifying a seven figure BPM solution did not make sense.
Ease-of-Use: They wanted design tools that were user friendly, eliminated the need to write code every time a process was changed, and did not require a Java developer.

Based on these requirements, all BPM tools based on proprietary technology were eliminated. The finalists were JBoss jBPM, a custom code JAVA-based solution, and ActiveVOS. The custom JAVA solution was eliminated because it was too time consuming and only “one-off” code. JBoss jBPM was eliminated because it required too much coding.

The outcome for WGU is compelling:

It reduced WGU’s student program change management process by 80% (4 hours to 48 minutes).
It saved an estimated $450,000 per year in reduced labor costs.
It improved efficiencies by improving record accuracy and reliability, and reducing manual processing.
It successfully implemented a serviced-oriented business process application, enabling change to occur more rapidly using ActiveVOS’s model-driven approach than possible using competing solutions WGU evaluated.
It established an IT infrastructure for the future that could develop, deploy, and integrate more dynamic applications with a limited investment.

David Reflexia, Senior Software Architect said, “We’re already expanding what we’ve done in the first project and will be using it for other business processes.” He continued, “Building a BPM solution using ActiveVOS Designer is faster than building it in almost any other language.”

Mark Taber, CEO of Active Endpoints, Inc. said, “We’ve had great success attracting customers that are moving away from expensive, proprietary BPM.” He continued, “Western Governors University is an excellent example of how customers benefit from ActiveVOS’s ease-of-use to quickly deliver service-oriented business process applications at an affordable price that meet today’s and future business and technology needs.”

A more detailed case study is available at www.activevos.com/proof-casestudies.php .

Careless Driving Law in Ontario

Friday, 3 September 2010
Careless Driving Law in Ontario by Amy Nutt
in Law (submitted 2009-08-06)

In Ontario, careless driving laws involve strict and serious enforcement. Although a common offence, careless driving infractions can have serious consequences if a driver is convicted of a particular offence. It is important to be aware of the ramifications if you are convicted of a careless driving violation.

Careless Driving as outlined in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) states:

“130. Every person is guilty of the offence of driving carelessly who drives a vehicle or street car on a highway without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the highway and on conviction is liable to a fine of not less than $200 and not more than $1,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, and in addition his or her license or permit may be suspended for a period of not more than two years. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 130.”

Penalties in Ontario can include “6 Demerit Points, fine not less than $200 and not more than $1000, imprisonment for a period of not more than 6 months. The Driver’s license may also be suspended for a period of up to 2 years.” If a driver accrues 15 demerit points, the driver’s license will be suspended.

The types of careless driving charges that a driver can receive are careless driving without a fine and careless driving with a fine.

1. Careless Driving with a fine printed on the ticket will result in 6 demerit points applied to a driver’s license and a minimum fine of $325. If you receive this fine, you have the option to plead guilty, plead guilty with a reason, or plead not guilty. Six demerit points will be applied to a driver’s record when pleading guilty. This will result in an increase in auto insurance premiums. One could end up paying hundreds of dollars or even thousands of dollars a year because the insurance company will consider them a high risk driver. The company may also cancel the driver’s insurance policy, even if a driver has just one careless driving offence. Insurance companies have access to your driving record for the past three years, as well as the past six years for claims.

One of the most

One of the most common job interview questions is, “What is the toughest problem you’ve had to face, and how did you overcome it?” Here’s how to give a winning answer.

First, realize that this popular interview question provides you with an excellent opportunity to shine. Everyone wants to hire people who are good at solving problems. Think of a good example concerning a problem that faced your company and not just you personally. The bigger the problem, the better.

Give specific examples of the skills and techniques you used to resolve this problem. Emphasize the successful results.

Be generous in sharing credit if it was a team effort, but be sure to highlight your specific role.

Sample Answer:

?When I assumed the role of Chief Dog Groomer at Mutts R Us, team morale was low, sales were lackluster and customers were dissatisfied. I immediately took action to identify the specific problems, analyze alternative solutions and pick the best options, and set a timeline for implementing the corrective actions. I reorganized the team structure and established written goals that focused on teamwork, improved customer service and increased productivity.

What brands mean now

What brands mean now

Shopper Report, The, April, 2010

Big brands have lost some of their power and credibility in recent years. Their price value has been diluted by less trust and more coupons. Perceptions of their quality have been diluted by upgraded store brands, product extensions, ingredients and processes that dilute the recipe formula, safety issues that that tell consumers that buying the brand doesn’t guarantee safety, pricing strategies that make consumers think about what they are paying for, and marketing buzzwords and positions that tarnish the brand’s clarity and sometimes its integrity. Some of our greatest brands have simply been overtaken by newer brands that appear to be higher quality. Remember when Choc Full o’ Nuts was advertised as the “best cup of coffee that money could buy?”

Today’s marketing language has been pumped up to levels high enough that they can’t be tuned out. Startbucks’ latest ads describe its Italian Roast coffee as “INTENSE, PASSIONATE, FEISTY, AND BOLD,” and then go on to say, “WE’RE STILL TALKING ABOUT COFFEE, AREN’T WE?” No, they are not exactly talking about coffee. They are really talking about getting beyond the noise to the sensory experience we are going to have (or can expect to have) when we purchase and consume this flavor. They have taken the “sell the sizzle, not the steak” idea to new heights, and in so doing, they have contributed to making food and beverage marketing language a hodge-podge that is as fluid, fast-changing, and can-you-top-this as the 3-D scenes in “Alice in Wonderland,” where nothing is quite as it seems or as it will be in the next few moments.

In today’s supermarkets, last year’s gold standards use cost-saving ingredients that many consumers believe cheapen the product. High fructose corn syrup is the best example; it is the most widely used ingredient that leeches quality from the once-pristine brands that have given up “real” sugar for the savings or profits.

"The Heinz bottle says that it is made 'with the finest ingredients'
but the list of ingredients shows that it's made with high
fructose corn syrup. Since when is that a finest ingredient?"

Finding out that Heinz Ketchup, Coke, or Pepsi are now made with HFCS, some consumers feel cheated, others feel sad, and still others shrug their shoulders:

"That's how it is in the supermarket."
"What else would you expect from processed foods?"

That perception takes trust and value from processed foods
